5/28/2023 0 Comments Keepassxc vs bitwardenLaunched in 2016, Bitwarden has soared into ranks of the top password managers with its low prices, attractive design and full-featured free tier. Even if you forget to un-share something, it expires automatically and the recipient's access is removed. This feature lets users share links that can only be used on one device and automatically expire at a time of your choosing. To make it easier to securely share confidential information with friends, family and co-workers, Keeper has added One-Time Share to its password manager. It also offers a free secure messaging service. It offers a consistent, if not flashy, user interface no matter which platform you're using, and 20 templates to fill in personal documents such as passports and driver's licenses. Keeper's free tier gives you everything except syncing across devices.įor an extra $25 per year, Keeper will also monitor the internet for unauthorized use of your personal data and give you 10GB of secure cloud storage, or you can add those services individually for $20 and $10 per year, respectively. Keeper ( $20.98 per year for Tom's Guide readers (opens in new tab)) is fast and full-featured, stores files and documents of any kind and has perhaps the best security of any password manager. By itself, the VPN costs $96 yearly, so it's a huge bargain when bundled with Dashlane. That makes Dashlane Premium's $60 price tag well worth it if you need these extra services. On the upside, the Dashlane Premium plan offers dark-web monitoring and unlimited VPN service, the latter courtesy of Hotspot Shield. Dashlane's free plan is limited to one device but it does let you store an unlimited number of passwords. Its Premium plan is $60 per year, or $78 per year if you pay monthly. A scanner also goes through your email inbox to find online accounts you may have forgotten about.ĭashlane's drawback is its high price. The password manager is well designed, easy to use and excellent at filling out your personal information in online forms. Its killer feature remains a bulk password changer that can reset hundreds of passwords at once. The older stand-alone application that let Mac users sync devices locally has been discontinued, and so has the free version of 1Password.ĭashlane matches LastPass, 1Password and Keeper in platform support and has very intuitive desktop software. The best part, the recipient does not need to be a 1Password subscriber.ġPassword asks new users to sign up for a $36 annual cloud subscription. It also has a secure data-sharing service called Psst! (opens in new tab) that lets 1Password users send a temporary link to anyone to share information, such as a password, that has already been saved in 1Password. The catch is that you have to subscribe to both services. 1Password also has great form-filling abilities and true two-factor authentication.ġPassword even offers "masked" email addresses (opens in new tab) for greater privacy through a deal with email provider Fastmail. The Chrome extension brings 1Password to Chromebook users, and you can also access your 1Password account through the company website.ġPassword's killer feature is Travel Mode which deletes sensitive data from your devices (you'll get it back later) so that snooping border-control agents can't find it. They work directly with web browsers and now support biometric logins. It also has excellent stand-alone browser extensions for Brave, Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari. 5/28/2023 0 Comments Free wifi scanner macThis amazing scanning software, with its extensive features, allows you to create and scan PDFs. Some PC optimization tools even try to hype up small, even non-existent issues. All in the name of making your PC faster. They try to install unwanted software by tricking you, or some of them kill off essential system processes. Some cleanup tools only make your computer slower than before. Various Windows cleaner tools are often questioned because there are a lot of evil fishes in the sea. However, they can be helpful in some scenarios if you choose the right tool. Today the line between materials and NLO processes has become fuzzy, particularly for newer NLO processes (e.g. Were very exciting but speculative, being technologically feasible only if new classes of materials could be developed The subject of materials in nonlinear optics (NLO) encompasses a wide range of important topics. With ring microresonator devices, active wavelength division multiplexing, optical network reconfiguration, and laser frequency tuning are straightforwardly accomplished. Conformal, flexible, and three-dimensional devices are also readily produced. An under-appreciated advantage of organic electro-optic materials is their processability, and a variety of stripline, cascaded prism and super-prism, and ring microresonator devices are readily fabricated. Moreover, robust and low optical loss materials can be fabricated by design. Owing to low and relatively dispersionless dielectric constants and refractive indicies, organic materials facilitate the fabrication of devices with 3 dB operational bandwidths of greater than 100 GHz. Such calculations also provide insight into what further improvements can be expected. Quantum and statistical mechanical calculations provide the basis for rational improvement of these parameters leading to electro-optic coefficients (at telecommunication wavelengths) of greater than 100 pm/V (a factor of 3 larger than values for the best inorganic material, lithium niobate). The macroscopic electrooptic activity of organic materials depends upon the molecular hyperpolarizability, beta, of individual organic chromophores and upon the product of number density, N, and noncentrosymmetric order, , of the chromophores in a hardened polymer lattice.5/27/2023 0 Comments Darkfighter hikvison
5/27/2023 0 Comments Ithoughtsx vs 2doI need some time to test and verify the technique details of all the integration you mentioned. Thanks for your advices, I will continued study your opinion. Ideally, MarginNote could have a template or plugin architecture for handling exports, such that either expert users or third-party developers could create their own export modules - that’s how I would approach it, at least. XML format export would also be good as it can be transformed into many other formats. E.g., having a preferences page for export and giving us a bunch of options there would be very welcome. (In fact, there is already an RTF export but it saves all the notes in individual files, which is not desirable for many applications.) Greater control over the formatting of the export is also very important. Next, providing RTF export would allow MarginNote to easily interoperate with many different text editors. E.g., fix the issues that summarized here. This has been discussed in other threads. My feeling is that improving the export options might be the best approach to this. I may be missing some finer points in this thread (e.g., is the URI already provided by MN enough to also satisfy the requirements of x-callback? I’m not sure about this), but it looks like improving export features could go a long way to tackle the issue of surfacing UIDs.įor example, adding a menu pick in MarginNote to copy the URI of the currently-selected note to the clipboard - this would be a simple addition, and it would allow us to easily grab a URI to any note. In sum, I believe MN already implements the UID functionality, and the issue is more how it’s being exported. I just scanned it briefly, but it seems to me that the MN links pretty much meet these requirements as UIDs. I also looked at the Tinderbox UID requirements, which helpfully suggested a few months ago. That is, both books and notes each have a UID. So, the UID of the note also gets you to the book that contains it. The two tables are linked via a key called ZTOPICID. There is a ZBOOK table with rows for each book, and a ZBOOKNOTE table with rows for all the notes. I looked inside the MN database on my machine and did a few SQL queries. The database is buried in the ~/Library folder (the standard place, more or less). Under the hood, MarginNote uses an industry-standard SQLite database, which stores everything in tables. If I click on the link or otherwise open it, MarginNote opens my document that contains the note, and MN seeks to it. The last element of the path is the UID of a note in MN. First, if I export a MS-Word file, it contains hyperlinks with URLs that look like this: I did a little bit of sleuthing around and here are my findings. It might not be difficult to change this. It appears to me that MarginNote (at least the macOS version of MN) already has something like this internally, and the main issue is how it’s surfaced or exported for our use. I also agree with that this is an important feature. All of us want to see MarginNote to improve over time, and are committed to helping make that happen. I’m happy to answer any additional questions you have on this or any other issues that I’ve raised. Many of us are still hoping MarginNote can create that export feature in the future. Thank you.īTW, I have to import MarginNote-created files to iThoughts X, and then export them in an OPML format for Tinderbox to use because MarginNote hasn’t yet created a CSV export format. I hope that’s helpful, and that MarginNote can provide users with UID values so we can better use MarginNote-created export files. Here’s a reference file on Tinderbox ID attributes for UID’s. Put another way: If you are open to the fact that user’s may export their data, how are they helped by not giving them (read-only) access to UID values? That’s how and why I want to use the UID – so I can locate and identify such source files that were created in MarginNote, and then reside in Tinderbox. However, if I make an annotation and export it it, then subsequently I improve/extend the annotation and re-export it, how does the next tool in the chain know this annotation is from the same source note? The source document title, for example, isn’t necessarily and reliably unique. But to use that information effectively in my work I need to export the information and import it into other apps, such as Tinderbox (after I first import MarginNote-created files to iThoughts X, and then export them in an OPML format for Tinderbox to use). I use MarginNote to easily make notes on PDFs. I recognize that no one tool does all things for a user. 5/27/2023 0 Comments Obs studio zoomWhatever the case, our guide is for anyone who wants to deliver a remote education experience that seamlessly incorporates presentations, spreadsheets, documents, websites, video, a virtual blackboard – really anything digital – without skipping a beat. Or you’re simply curious about expanding your tech skills for teaching. Or you may be fairly new to Zoom, and though you’ve traditionally incorporated various source materials into your teaching, haven’t found a way to really replicate the experience for students virtually. You may already be using Zoom, but finding the transitions between class materials via screen sharing are just too clunky. Produced using the methods described in our “How to Use OBS and Zoom for Online Teaching” guide, the video below showcases what can be done with OBS – hosted by CRDT Multimedia Producer Greg MacDonald: OBS allows users to seamlessly switch between various digital inputs while sending a single stream to students via Zoom. Zoom “sees” the output of OBS as a webcam, while you control the changing/mixing of inputs using OBS. It eliminates the need to share your screens and windows in Zoom thereby eliminating those awkward transitions from one Zoom view to another. – on their computer and feed them all as a single stream to Zoom. The source is clipped using this filter and then scaled elsewhere.OBS Studio (Open Broadcaster Software Studio) is a free, open source application that allows users to switch between various digital inputs – webcams, tablets, browser windows, documents, videos, etc. If you're curious how it all works, take a look at the Filter the source – you can see the entry there ZoomCrop. And with the follow hotkey, the section also follows the mouse. The use is pretty trivial: just start the zoom with your hotkey and you'll only see a section of the desktop, just bigger. Tip: If you want to use the script for multiple sources, simply copy the Python file and add it to OBS again under a new name. The hotkeys are also from Zoom and Follow So put down Edit/Preferences/Hotkeys for the two points Enable/Disable Mouse Zoom and Enable/Disable Mouse Follow abbreviation. Now only two hotkeys are missing to be able to switch the zoom and follow functions on and off. This ensures that the source is always within this fixed size. In the script settings, the source is particularly important To the Understanding: If your monitor has a resolution of 2000×1000 and the zoom window is 1000×500, the magnification will be 2x. But Attention: Even if GitHub specifies a Python file there, the usual "save target as" does not work! You either need to clone the repository or just copy the script content to a local file. You only need the script to be found there zoom_and_follow_mouse.py. Now you can use the script Zoom and follow install yourself. You do this in the terminal with: pip install PyWinCtl Now you must PyWinCtl install, a tool to be able to access required information from other windows under Windows. Installed first Python Then copy the installation path (e.g. A small open source script makes it possible. Of course, this can be done with external tools, including Windows' own, but as an OBS-internal function it is more convenient and much more reliable. And this should ideally follow the mouse pointer. If details are to be recognizable and texts legible, a little zoom is needed from time to time. Pre-manufacture site visits allowed us to take precise measurements, working around the extant skylights, and we provided detailed curb construction drawings so the contractor could construct the curb correctly. This was essential for future maintenance, so we specified four single-skin em.vault rooflights, one with manual opening supported by gas struts. The standard mill finish frame would keep costs low and blend with the canopy's concrete finish.Įm.vaults offer one significant advantage over our GRP T-Vault rooflights: they can readily incorporate roof access. Minimising disruption for staff and commuters was critical, and as such there would be just one access point to the roof. Whitesales were brought in by Briggs Amasco, Network Rail’s roofing contractor, to design, manufacture and install a series of non-fragile rooflights for the 900sq m replacement roof.
